Development of a design for the long-term preservation of digital primary and secondary data

The objective of the project is to develop a design which comprises one ore more models and/or alternatives for a central managed trustworthy long-term preservation of digital primary and secondary data for Swiss universities, the Swiss research centres and university libraries. The starting point is the existence of digital data and objects such as digital primary and secondary data at Swiss universities, Swiss research centres and university libraries as well as the licences for electronic databases and electronic journals of the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries.

The results should include a design with one ore more models and/or alternatives for a central managed long-term preservation of digital primary and secondary data for Swiss universities, the Swiss research centres and university libraries. It should also offer proposals for the development of national standards and guidelines for a digital preservation, for a Swiss service facility or network as well as for a national trusted digital repository.
