Swiss DOI Registration Centre
The "DOI desk at ETH Zurich" run by the ETH-Bibliothek registers DOIs for all Swiss universities.
DOI names are suitable for:
- Primary data (research data)
- Secondary data (e.g. documents in an institutional repository)
- Digitised material (e.g. "e-rara.ch", "retro.seals.ch")
Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
A DOI is used to provide unique identification for an electronic document. It is similar to an ISBN number and can be used for citing an Internet object.
Example for a DOI name:
doi:10.3929/ethz-a-000565688. The related object can be accessed via Google or via webbrowser by adding http://dx.doi.org/ at the beginning of the DOI.
Example: http://dx.doi.org/10.3929/ethz-a-000565688
Partnerships
The "DOI desk at ETH Zurich" was set up as part of "DOI-CH", a sub-project of "e-lib.ch". ETH Zurich is a member of DataCite – an international consortium.
